What is your research question?   Student Translating Non-English Native Languages into English in Essay Writing
Who will be providing you with information to help you answer your question, and how will you approach and/or select them?

Students at UALStaff at UAL
What will you be asking participants to do?

Consent to their participation in the interviews being observed and documented.Take part in one-to-one interviews.
How will you get informed consent from these participants?   The participants in the interviews would be required to complete informed consent forms, alongside providing verbal consent during the interaction.
What potential risks to the interests of participants do you foresee and what steps will you take to minimise those risks? A participant’s interests include their physical and psychological wellbeing; their commercial interests; and their rights of privacy and reputation.

The teachers’ teaching methodology could potentially be examined and criticised. Potentially this could bring negative consequences on the interviewees’ credibility as educators.   To ensure the utmost confidentiality, their identities, including titles and department affiliations, would be anonymised and undisclosed in both the research documentation and presentation materials.   The students may be stressed saying what he/she thinks and feels in front of me, considering that their views may be provocative and controversial. I will make sure they understand that their answers would not have any impact on their academic grades and how they are perceived by the researcher. It would be a safe space; and surely they would be anonymised as well.   The interviews will be conducted in a confidential environment (safe space), with participants’ identities being anonymised.   Moreover, participants are entitled to quit the interviews at any time without the need for justification.   Participants will retain the option to retract their contributions retrospectively. They would fully understand that, as sated in the consent forms, if they have any worries and thus wish to withdraw their input, then not only will their data not be used, but it will also be permanently deleted.
What potential risks to yourself as the practitioner do you foresee and what steps will you take to minimise those risks?   If the research process proposed any traumatic and sensitive to me; and possibly be emotionally demanding for me, I commit to seeking support and guidance from the on-campus psychotherapist and counsellor.
Does your project involve children or vulnerable adults e.g. a person with a learning disability?   No
How will you store the information you gather from participants?   The interviews will not be recorded in any form. Instead, they will be thoroughly documented in written format, which will be securely stored in my personal notebook and subsequently transcribed into digital copies. These records will take the form of key points rather than verbatim transcripts, and the names of participants will be omitted from the notebooks to protect their identities.
